While on a detox, we can notice a few major improvements concerning the work of our liver and kidneys. Their functions improve, which immediately leads to a healthier body, filled with more energy and vitality. Also, one’s mind becomes aroused by the diet.

When trying to lose extra weight, detox is a great jump-start, since it cleans all the unnecessary toxins piles up on our body. Not only will you lose the extra weight, but you will also improve and strengthen your immune system which will help you fight off all the potential viruses and diseases.

In addition to that, one might strive for a stronger and healthier body, and this is where detox comes in. Not only will you eat healthier food, you will also have a completely new set of flavors on the table. Some people reported that detox increased their performance at the gym. Another way of increasing performance and attaining better training results is to consider special detox supplements, which are both healthy and can compensate for the nutrients lost while detoxifying your body.

Judging by these references, detox sure does have a lot of pros.

But, let us take a look at the flip side:

Cons of Detox

The most common thing related to the detox diet is the placebo effect. Scientists have warned that a person might start feeling better while being on a detox simply by believing in its effects, even though that might not be the case. In fact, an individual may do more harm to himself than good without realizing it.

Detox can end up in nutrient deficiency, causing many problems during workout and while in an anabolic state. Also, eating fiber-rich fruits and veggies can lead to bloating and gas, which commonly causes diarrhea. Additionally, people believe that this is when the cleansing is happening, but they are very wrong.

Detox is not recommended for children and teenagers, pregnant women and people with health conditions because detox does not provide the body with enough calories and proteins. Also, one cannot experience long-term weight loss by being on a detox; the moment you stop with the detox, you will gain your weight back and probably even more. So before starting with this diet, contact your physician.

We can definitely say that detox cleanses both a positive and the negative side. It is up to you to decide whether you should go for it or not.
