The most common thing related to the detox diet is the placebo effect. Scientists have warned that a person might start feeling better while being on a detox simply by believing in its effects, even though that might not be the case. In fact, an individual may do more harm to himself than good without realizing it.

Detox can end up in nutrient deficiency, causing many problems during workout and while in an anabolic state. Also, eating fiber-rich fruits and veggies can lead to bloating and gas, which commonly causes diarrhea. Additionally, people believe that this is when the cleansing is happening, but they are very wrong.

Detox is not recommended for children and teenagers, pregnant women and people with health conditions because detox does not provide the body with enough calories and proteins. Also, one cannot experience long-term weight loss by being on a detox; the moment you stop with the detox, you will gain your weight back and probably even more.
