5 Home Remedies for Acid Reflux
Acid reflux is an uncomfortable condition that affects around 60% of the adult population at some point in their lives. 2. Baking Soda
Baking soda is a natural antacid, it can provide a quick relief from the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux. It is not recommended as a long term solution however, but will help in the short-term.
Directions – Add one teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water, mix well and drink.
3. Aloe Vera Juice
Aloe vera is known to have some good anti-inflammatory and healing properties. By drinking aloe vera juice you will soothe the painful symptoms of acid reflux.
Directions – Drink a glass of aloe vera juice no sooner than 20 minutes before eating a meal.
4. Chewing Gum
One of the easier methods of treating acid reflux symptoms is to chew gum after a meal. Chewing gum stimulates the production of saliva, helping to wash away acid that has built-up in the gut. Saliva has a neutralizing effect on the stomach acid, soothing any symptoms you may be experiencing.
5. Licorice Root
Licorice soothes the mucous membranes, protecting the lining inside the gut. In turn decreasing the inflammation and gastric problems.
Directions – Using powder form, boil half a teaspoon in water. Strain and drink no later than 20 minutes before eating a meal.
As with any health issues, always check with your doctor first that there are not any other underlying issues and you are safe to take these ingredients. When you have the all clear always use within the recommended tolerance, taking extra doses will not help resolve your issues quicker.
